Free Bets

Betting sites often offer free bets and other bonuses to encourage new customers to sign up. We don’t rank the best betting sites on their free bet offers alone. Still, these offers do play a part. In fact, if you use your bonuses wisely, you can often earn a nice extra profit.

Below, we list bonuses from the best betting websites. All of these offers are good, but we have sorted them from best to worst.

Most of these offers are matched bets. However, there are also some deposit bonuses. We explain the difference below the table. Some offers are completely free bets, and you can learn more about those on our no deposit free bets page.

Keep in mind that the offers in the table are for new customers only. However, you may still qualify if you already have an account but have never used the site’s sportsbook. For example, you might have signed up only to play in the casino. In that case, you can probably claim the free bet, but it depends on the site.

Free Bets Explained

Many bonuses look alike. However, they can hide big differences. So, to compare offers from different sites, you need to work out the true value of each free bet or bonus.

For example, some bookmakers return the free bet stake along with your winnings, but others don’t. Clearly, a $25 free bet that returns the stake is worth much more than a $25 free bet that doesn’t. Here are the key factors to consider when you compare betting offers:

Is the Offer a Free Bet or a Bonus?

First, look at the type of offer. In general, there are two kinds of promotions: free bets and betting bonuses.

Free Bets

A free bet usually comes as a token or credit that you can use to place a bet. If the bet wins, you keep the profit. On the other hand, if it loses, you get nothing.

Most free bets are matched bets, given after you deposit and place a bet with your own money. However, there are a few less common types too. For example, with a no-deposit free bet, you get a bet token just for signing up. Another type is the no-lose bet, where you receive a free bet if your qualifying bet loses.

Betting Bonus

A betting bonus is promotional credit added to your betting account. Usually, it arrives right away, so you can bet with your own money and the bonus money.

However, most bonuses require you to bet a certain amount before you can withdraw the bonus or any winnings from it. This is known as the wagering requirement, and it is based on the bonus amount (for example, 8x the bonus).
