Jaguars @ Chiefs
The Jaguars won’t be able to afford to do what they did against the Chargers by falling behind by 27 points as Patrick Mahomes and company isn’t likely to give up a 27 point lead so Jacksonville will need to be able to figure out the Chiefs defense fairly early in the game. This game will likely come down to how Jacksonville handles the vaunted Chiefs passing attack which leads the NFL in 297.8 yards per game while the Jacksonville defense is ranked 28th in the league at 238.5 yards per game. Our Pick: Chiefs
Bills @ Bengals
If Cincinatti felt that they were shunned by the NFL with the way the end of the NFL season turned and felt they got the raw end of the deal this is the perfect opportunity to prove their worth. Both defenses will have their hands full in this one as both teams are in the top 10 in the NFL in yards (407.7 yards per game for second in the NFL for Buffalo while Cincinatti garnered a 378.7 yard per game effort during the regular season). Our Pick: Bills
Giants @ Eagles
Both of these teams have really strong running games and aren’t one for turning the ball over so it will likely come down to either which team makes the fewest mistakes or which team forces more turnovers. It could also come down to whichever team has the strongest running game as the Giants and Eagles were ranked fourth (148.2 yards per game) and fifth (147.6 yards per game) in yards on the ground during the regular season. Our Pick: Giants
49ers @ Bucs/Cowboys
If it’s 49ers Bucs this game would be full circle for Tom Brady in more ways than one. The way that 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has gained fame is by dominating after an injury to Jimmy Garrapolo just like the way Brady did when Bledsoe got hurt and Brady also grew up in California and as a kid dreamed playing for the 49ers. One interesting matchup that could be worth watching in this one is Tom Brady versus the 49ers secondary who held Seattle quarterback Geno Smith to 253 yards. Our Pick: 49ers
If it’s Dallas, their depth in the secondary will likely be tested as cornerbacks Jourdan Lewis and Anthony Brown are on injured reserve for the rest of the year. This will also be Purdy’s first shot at playing true prime time football in the spotlight. Regardless of which team gets in one interesting thing to watch could be San Fransisco’s red zone defense who has only allowed touchdowns to score 20 percent of the time there opponents get that far.
