Thursday Night Football
Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) at Los Angeles Rams (3-3) 4:05p (ET)
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Rams meet in SoFi Stadium for a Sunday afternoon matchup. In Week 5, the Steelers were in excellent defensive form in a 17-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens. It wasn’t a great performance from the offense, but the defense gave the Ravens lots of problems. Going up against this Rams team with Cooper Kupp at full strength is no easy task. Kupp has been dominant since his return from injury, and the Rams’ offense also has now a number of other dynamic weapons with young players like Puka Nacua, and Tutu Atwell stepping up in a lot of ways.
Pittsburgh is averaging just 15.8 points per game offensively this season and that’s certainly not going to be enough to beat the Rams in LA. They would need to rely on some game-changing plays defensively to be able to get the job done. Final Score: Steelers – 20, Rams – 27
Green Bay Packers (2-3) at Denver Broncos (1-5) 4:25p (ET)
The Green Bay Packers are another team returning to the field following a bye week. Coming off back-to-back losses, the Packers surely had plenty of homework to do. They are now 2-3 and could easily be worse than that. The Denver Broncos return home after losing in Kansas City on Thursday night. It was the Broncos’ best defensive performance of the 2023 season, holding the Chiefs to just 19 points, but they still suffered an 11-point loss. The Packers have the type of defensive front that could cause Denver’s offense to struggle once again, but can the Broncos defense build off of a solid performance against the Chiefs?
Since both offenses have been struggling, this should be another lower-scoring defensive battle. I’ll take the home team by a field goal. Final Score: Packers – 17, Broncos – 20
Los Angeles Chargers (2-3) at Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) 4:25p (ET)
The Kansas City Chiefs welcome the Los Angeles Chargers to Arrowhead Stadium for an AFC West rivalry showdown on Sunday. The Chargers come into this game on a short week after losing to the Cowboys on Monday. Last Thursday night, Kansas City beat Denver by a score of 19-8. This season, the defense has been the real star of the show in Kansas, but the offense is hoping to hit big plays this week.
The Chiefs go from the horrible Broncos’ secondary to another feeble secondary against the Chargers. In fact, statistically speaking, the Chargers are the worst team in the league against the pass!
Kansas City has played a lot of close games lately and the Chargers have done a good job of keeping a lot of their recent meetings close. With that being said, the Chiefs should emerge with a win at home and move to 6-1. Final Score: Chargers – 24, Chiefs – 31
Miami Dolphins (5-1) at Philadelphia Eagles (5-1) 8:20p (ET)
The Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles meet in the game of the week on Sunday Night Football. If there is one football game to watch in Week 7, it has to be this one! There is talent, skill and depth on both sides for this epic showdown at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Dolphins have had one bump in the road, but they have the best offense in the league right now putting up absolutely crazy numbers. The Eagles will definitely be more locked in after that shocking loss to the NY Jets last Sunday.
The speed, efficiency and quality the Miami Dolphins have shown offensively this season, it seems it could be way too much for most teams to deal with. I’m taking the Miami Dolphins on the road, and I’m getting my popcorn ready for this one! Final Score: Dolphins – 27, Eagles – 26
San Francisco 49ers (5-1) at Minnesota Vikings (2-3) (Mon) 8:15p (ET)
The San Francisco 49ers are once again on the road after an ugly loss at Cleveland against the Browns. Rookie Kicker Jake Moody had a chip shot for the victory but missed as the clock expired. Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey left that game early with injuries and their status for this one in Minnesota is uncertain. As for the Vikings, they currently sit at 2-4 after getting a win over the Chicago Bears in their last appearance.
It’s going to be tough for Minnesota to beat most teams without WR Justin Jefferson, but even playing at home, against this 49ers defense, this is a particularly difficult task. The 49ers have held opponents below 20 points in each of the last four games, and it’s hard to bet against San Francisco considering what we have seen from them for the most part of the season. Their offense is loaded, their defense is loaded, and without Justin Jefferson, it doesn’t get any easier for the Vikings. Final Score: 49ers – 30, Vikings – 21
